Two Ideas

Adrianne & Michael  Sirois circa 1987

Well, Hello there!

Along with my husband Michael, I am the owner of Capital Upholstery in Voorheesville NY. This is my first blog ever and I thank you for reading it! I really want to call it a Blogette because most things can be said in fewer words than we use. Some blogs turn into Blog Blah Blah Blah. I hope mine is concise, interesting, articulate, and short!

We started our business in 1987 without a computer or a cell phone, but with an idea, two really.

Back when an Apple was in a bowl of fruit on your kitchen counter and Windows were draped with gorgeous fabrics in your home, we conceived and developed the two ideas, two phrases that have guided our business through all these years: We dreamt of creating a business where we would produce quality crafted upholstered products and where we would offer excellent customer service.

Quality Craftsmanship

Way back then Mike didn’t know everything about everything. (He sort of does now.) He would bring pieces to other old-time upholsterers to do parts he could not do. He learned. He practiced tufting on our headboard. Repeatedly. He learned. He practiced new things on furniture scavenged from the side of the road. He learned more. He has seen it all and done it all. And over the years, Michael has become the master craftsman he so admired as a younger man.

Excellent Customer Service

I’m still surprised when people say, “Thanks so much for returning my call.” Or “Thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions.” “Thanks for the thorough email that explains this process.” “Thanks for patience while I decide my fabric.” “Thanks for letting us take books home to see the fabric next to our rug.” “Thanks for working pickup of my furniture around the schedule of the guy refinishing my floors.” “Thanks for taking the time to help me find just what I was looking for.” “I thought this was going to be hard. Thanks for making the process easy.” I do my best!

Apples and Windows have changed so much of life (I am writing a blog!). We have grown over the years and so many things have changed. But some things have never changed and still direct every decision we make! Our guiding principles: Quality Craftsmanship and Excellent Customer Service.

For now,

Adrianne
