We do make beautiful custom throw pillows at Capital Upholstery.
And I must confess at the outset here, that I just walked around my home and counted throw pillows.
Ready?
30.
Yes, 30. I believe in throw pillows.
Michael thinks they are called throw pillows because you throw them on the floor when they are in your way! Ha!
Tips for throw pillows:
- Odd numbers of throw pillows are generally better than even numbers.
- Aim for a balanced somewhat symmetrical look with some variation in texture, sizes, patterns and colors.
- Complement the scale in proportion to the size of your furniture.
- Lumbar pillows look great on chairs.
- Choose comfortable fabrics for throw pillows if will actually be used. Choose more decorative (and expensive) fabrics when throw pillows are mostly for décor.
- Repeat colors that are already in the room.
- Add a chop to the top if you must!
- Change them seasonally for variety.
- Try braided trim, fringe, or contrast welt for a designer look.
Reasons to have throw pillows:
- They add color, pattern and texture at that mid-level area of your room. (3 reasons!)
- They are warm and inviting.
- They are more comfortable for many people. Me!
Reasons not to have throw pillows:
So, Michael joyfully tolerates my 30 throw pillows.
And I joyfully pick them up off the floor.
For now,
Adrianne
